The 2008 ISAAC ROET PRIZE
Two winners
The Faculty of Economics and Business of the University of Amsterdam and the Flemish/Dutch chapter of Economists for Peace and Security (EPS) are honoured to announce that the winners of the seventh edition of the Isaac Roet Prize are:Ms. Marijke Geerts, Universidad Torcuato Di Tella, Buenos Aires, Argentina
and Mr. Paul Duffill, The University of Sydney, Australia

Awarding of the Prize
At a conference with Professor Johan Galtung “Understanding
Peace, Conflict and Violence: do we need new approaches?”, at
the ISS, The Hague (The Netherlands), on 8 December 2009, 10h00-18h00.
The conference will be organised by the Institute of Social
Studies-Erasmus University of Rotterdam. Information on and registration for the

The prize will be awarded by Haim Roet, member of the jury and relative to the late Isaac Roet, Professor C.A.J. Herkströter, member of the jury and Professor Philip Verwimp, chairman of Economists for Peace and Security.

The Isaac Roet master thesis Prize is an international master thesis contest about the promotion of world peace through economic interaction. Students from all economic faculties at universities around the globe will be invited to participate and to write their master thesis on the theme of the next edition of the essay competition:

The organisation of the Isaac Roet master thesis Prize has been delegated to the Economists for Peace and Security (EPS). EPS is an international organisation for intellectual exchange among economists concerned with issues related to peace, conflict resolution and international security. The Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universiteit van Amsterdam facilitates the organisation of the prize.
